Andrew Bruce Murray, 22, was spotted by an off-duty police officer who was coaching the team on Wagga’s Duke of Kent Oval about 4:30pm on August 28.
He accelerated harshly around a corner, causing the rear end of the car to lose traction and slide.
Murray told the court he was in a “bad mental state” after he pleaded guilty to reckless driving and driving while disqualified.
“Well it’s going to be a very expensive mental state for you,” magistrate Christopher Halburd said, adding $1700 in fines to his sentence.
“There was also an aged care facility and a preschool in the area when you accelerated and harshly turned … it could’ve ended very, very badly if people got injured.”
Murray was also placed on a 12-month community correction order, which will be called up if he commits any further offences.
