As the “unprecedented” number of break and enters in the Griffith area continue, police have put more cops on the ground to catch those responsible.

Inspector Kim Traynor said the break and enters were high on their agenda, and said Murrumbidgee Police were concentrating more police resources during high risk times.
“We are focusing these extra police resources on the Griffith area in an effort to catch those responsible for the continued break and enters,” Inspector Traynor said.
Over the course of Monday night and early Tuesday morning, three reported break and enters occurred in Griffith.
While school holiday period can be a time of higher disturbances, Inspector Traynor police were taking a broader approach to the burglaries.
“We do not think these incidents are related to the school holidays, but we are taking everything into consideration when examining these events,” Inspector Traynor said.
Two feed outlets on Jondaryan Avenue were broken into from 11pm on Monday night and 5am on Tuesday morning, with the thieves coming away with very little.
One business had an amount of cash stolen from the building after the thieves forced open a door, and the only thing taken from the other outlet was an empty cash container stolen.
Thieves hit a Yenda service station, also on Tuesday morning around 4am, with cigarettes packets stolen after they forced open a door.
CCTV camera footage captured two men taking part in this robbery and police are using this footage to continue investigations.
