Samuel John Shephard, 37, did not appear in court on Wednesday morning when his lawyer informed the magistrate the case was ready to proceed, some 14 months after Ms Boyd’s alleged murder.
“An agreement has been reached and there will be a committal hearing with four witnesses to give oral evidence,” solicitor Shaun Mortimer said.
“If we proceed uninterrupted, I think two days will be adequate – three days might be better for more abundant caution.”
Magistrate Christopher Halburd said the court would not be able to spare three days until next year, and set the committal hearing down for March 20.
The committal hearing will determine whether there is enough evidence against Mr Shephard to proceed to trial.
Mr Shephard was remanded in custody until his hearing in March.
