Samurai Sushi in the Australian Arcade on Fitzmaurice Street shut its doors about three weeks ago.
Fellow food-outlet owner El Hutchinson, who runs Free Spirit Foods in the same complex, said it was “pretty sad for us.”
”People think that when another food business goes out of business, it’s good for other outlets,” Ms Hutchinson said.
“But sometimes I think it’s way better to have businesses close together.
“They [former owners] had a really good clientele base like us, as they’ve healthy options like us.
“So I guess the fact that they’re gone now means we may not get as many people down here, so it’s sad that they’ve shut.”
However, she said they wanted to move on from the industry.
“But it’s good for them because I think they had enough in hospitality,” Ms Hutchinson said.
“They’ve gone to do something not so hectic with their time.”
Phil Elliot of Riverina Strata Management, which manages Australian Arcade, is unavailable for comments.
Former owners of Samurai Sushi Scott and Leonie Cooper have been contacted for comments.
