Event host Rachelle Minterns daughter, Taylor Garrett, was diagnosed with leukaemia when she was four.

Ms Mintern said the event at Victory Memorial Gardens was on track to raise about $3500 for the Leukaemia Foundation and she hoped for an even bigger turnout next year.

It was really good. It was a nice amount of people to have attended, she said.

Its quite emotional for a lot of people, especially when they have lost loved ones to blood cancer, so its just a nice, not-too-big event for them to feel comfortable and reflect.

Participants lit up lanterns coloured gold, to remember a lost loved one, blue, to show support, and white, to signify their own blood cancer journey.

Ms Mintern thanked all the attendees and sponsors for supporting Light the Night.
