Burning Seed is a six-day festival that draws thousands of people to the region to build a collaborative ‘city’ in a remote part of the Matong State Forest.
Drug use at the festival has been a concern over recent years, with Riverina police making about 40 drug arrests and 17 other drug detections during last year’s festival alone.
Police are expected to again step-up their presence around the festival from Wednesday until its conclusion next Tuesday.
The festival’s organisers took to the internet to urge participants to not jeopardise the festival’s future by repeating the same behaviour this year.
Last year’s festival drew about 4000 to the forest, and organisers say this year’s festival has already sold out.
