President Geoff O’Hare said all the profits from the relaxed family race day would be heading straight to local charity Country Hope.
“The Picnic Races have been going for probably almost 100 years, and for about the last 20 we’ve been supporting Country Hope,” Mr O’Hare said.
“We also run a charity club where we encourage businesses around Wagga to sponsor a kid to attend the Country Hope Time Out for Life camp, where sick kids get a week away from all their issues.”
Mr O’Hare said the races have already raised almost $500,000 for Country Hope and usually send between 80 to 100 kids to camp every year.
The races will kick off from midday at the MTC, with plenty of races and entertainment to keep revellers busy as they enjoy a chilled picnic.
