A man has been charged after he allegedly sent a threatening text message to Wagga City Councillor Paul Funnell.

On Friday, August 17 this year, Cr Funnell reported to Wagga Police Station that he had received an anonymous text message of a threatening nature.
Following inquiries by officers from the Riverina Police District, a 41-year-old man from Victoria was charged with the use of carriage service to menace, harass and offend.
NSW Police Media said the man attended The Rock Police Station on Saturday, September 15 prior to police charging him.
He was granted bail and is due to appear at Wagga Local Court on Wednesday, October 31.
In August, Cr Funnell was campaigning as an independent candidate for the Wagga byelection.
Cr Funnell said he and his family were left shaken by the alleged threats against them.
