Winless in her first 29 starts, the well-bred daughter of Somebeachsomewhere made it three wins and a second since joining Phillip Bryce’s stable.

The Wagga trainer, who leased the mare from South Australia, has been thrilled with her efforts so far.

“She come from Greg Norman and had 30 odd starts down there for him for a few placings but hasn’t looked back since she moved here,” Bryce said.

Bryce knew he had something nice on his hands when the five-year-old first arrived but it took time to sort out the lease arrangement.

However she hasn’t looked back with wins at Young, Leeton and now Wagga.

After drawing wide, Machkori had to get through plenty of work early, but Shane Hallcroft managed to find the one-one

Despite the early work, she managed to run down Msflibbertigibbet to win the Indigenous Drivers Series Wagga Sept 28 Ladyship Pace (1755m) by 1.4 metres.

Bryce thought the scratchings helped, but the plan was to always head forward.

“She moved in a couple but we were going to do the same thing anyway,” he said.

“There was a little bit of pace inside and I thought we might have been able to cross them, but it worked out job and it was a top drive.”

Bryce knows things will get harder from here as a C3 and is looking to give Machkori a break with an attempt to put more condition on her.

Meanwhile, Brad Aylett made the trip back to Victoria with two winners after Four Shotzzz and Arty Guy won the last two races.
