The Yathella Coursing-Park Branch of the Country Womens' Association celebrated its 80th anniversary at Wagga RSL Club.
Annie Kiefer, guest speaker and past honorary state secretary, said highlights for her so far include the collaboration during the annual conferences.
“There’s a lot of fellowship that happens at that time,” Ms Kiefer said.
“It’s a learning curve – you can do as much as you want or do as little as you want.
“But it’s just a great chance to enjoy everyone’s company.”
The Branch was formed in 1931, went into recess 1946, reformed in 1953 by the Yathella and Coursing Park ladies.
Thus, Yathella-Coursing Park Branch came into being.
Over the years members have come from Wagga, Downside, Harefield and Brucedale.
Branch President Nola Wendt, who has been a member for more than 40 years, said the women in CWA were teachers.
“You don’t know you’re being taught because you learn to do secretarial work, chairing a meeting and you end up being function manager,” Mrs Wendt said.
“And you learn about the fine points about cooking – you can’t leave that out.
“I’d never be able to do those things if not for the association.”
Other special guests included Ann Adams, current Honorary State Secretary CWA of NSW, and Elaine Armstrong, past State President.
The branch is calling for more members.
