In a combined effort between Champions League Basketball founder and general manager Matthew Hollard and Wagga City Council, the City of Good Sports will host a round of CLB’s 3X3 national tour in November.
Mr Hollard said it was an exciting opportunity to showcase the growing sport across regional communities.
“We realise that the regions don’t get a lot of the five-on-five stuff so it’s a good opportunity to showcase some quality 3X3 basketball,” he said.
“The set-ups the same whether it’s out here or in the city and we find that smaller places appreciate these events a little bit more.”
Mr Hollard said regional councils like Wagga City Council had been receptive to hosting the CLB 3X3 events and was excited to bring the exhibition – complete with its own teams, branding and portable courts, to Wagga Beach.
Players affiliated with Basketball Wagga including Heat captain Zac Maloney have already signaled their interest in submitting teams to play in November.
The national three-a-side competition kicks off in Melbourne next month and runs over 28 weeks in an Australia-wide touring festival of basketball.
