The premiers secured their place in the decider on September 1 with a 28-6 victory.

With so much at stake coach Terry Westblade was disappointed with the performance.

“We weren’t good enough,” Westblade said.

“I was really disappointed and Southcity were just far too good.

“They are a good side, they play hard and our boys weren’t up to it.

“We got outgunned in every facet of the game

Not even the surprise return of captain Peter Little could correct their late season slump.

Brothers were on top of the ladder for most of the season as they look to win their win Group Nine title in 23 years.

Injuries have played a massive part, but most of the team was back on deck for the qualifying final.

Not being up for the fight was what disappointed Westblade the most.

“They were hard at the ruck, hard through the line and it just looked like a first grade team playing a second grade team,” he said.

Brothers are set to be without Lloyd Bowen for the rest of the season after he injured his thigh.

Westblade is looking for a big improvement when they use their second chance to tackle Gundagai on Sunday.

“If they don’t shape up and play the same way as they did today there is no way in God’s earth they are going to beat who steps up,” he said.
