Officers from the Riverina Police District have been told an unknown man forced his way into a home unit on Day Street about 4.40pm yesterday.
The man assaulted a 29-year-old woman before leaving; it’s believed her eight-month-old baby girl was also injured during the assault.
The woman alerted her husband and the family reported the incident at the Wagga Police Station.
Investigators have established a crime scene at the home and are now appealing for anyone who may have seen activity in the area about the time of the attack, to contact Wagga Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
The public is reminded not to report crime via the NSW Police social media pages.
