Ten men’s teams will do battle for the Packham Cup with a new winner waiting to be crowned with last year’s winners, Multiple Scorgasms, not back to defend their title.
Tumut are out to defend their Schipps Trophy title in the four-team women’s competition, up against Griffith, Cowra and CSU.
In the junior divisions, Wodonga has entered for the first time and will arrive with six teams.
Cowra, in their second visit, are bringing five teams for the carnival.
The half-hour games will be played on both the turf anss fields at Jubilee Park.
Meantime, in round 17 Wagga Hockey action, men’s ladder leaders, Harlequins can secure the minor premiership with a win against Royals on Saturday.
They’re coming off a huge battle against Lake Albert, which finished 3-3 last round, while Royals had an almighty scare on their way to a 1-0 win against CSU. The winless CSU played the better hockey and were unlucky not to walk away with any points.
They face Lake Albert in the late game this week. Craig Knowles’s Lake Albert needs the points against CSU as the race for second spot heats up. Royals have a game in hand, and the contest for the double chance is tight with only the goal differential separating the teams.
In the one women’s game this round, Rosellas play CSU/Rivcoll at 5pm with Royals and LAC United having a week off.
Although CSU have only scored one win this season against Rosellas, for past two games they have shared the points against LAC United, with two draws and will welcome the return of Bernie Howard this week.
Rosellas suffered a one goal loss to ladder leaders Royals last week, so expect a close game between the two sides.
