Cootamundra’s finals hope goes on the line on Sunday but rivals Temora have plenty to play for as well.
The Dragons are desperate to avoid the wooden spoon.
Young’s late resurgence has seen Temora drop to last but they have one last chance to try and shake the dreaded trophy.
Injuries haven’t been kind to Temora with Gavin Kite and Jock Ward both expected to miss the clash.
However captain-coach Sam Elwin is hopeful they can conjure enough without them.
“I’m confident with the players I’ve got,” Elwin said.
“It is not something you want to your name, but at the same time if you are not first you are last I reckon.
“It is definitely going to be playing on everyone’s mind.”
The Bulldogs need to win and hope Young can down Junee and Southcity handle Tumut to make the finals.
A number of former teammates are back with Cootamundra this season adding to the contest.
Elwin knows his team are in for a big test coming off heavy losses to Gundagai, Albury and Tumut in their last three games.
“They are obviously a very good side and one their day can be one of the best in the comp,” he said.
“We know it is going to be tough, the same as any other game really.”
Good news may be on the horizon with Elwin confident they’ve lured Marrar premiership player Rory Block back to rugby league.
“We’re looking pretty confident he’s just going to be playing league next year,” he said.
After struggling to bring players into the club this season, Elwin is hopeful Block will be the first of many.
