Emergency services rushed along the Newell Highway, towards Tyndall’s Lane, outside Ariah Park, following reports two trucks had collided.
Paramedics and police arrived after 12.30pm to find a 42-year-old man trapped in the cabin of his heavy vehicle.
According to a NSW Ambulance spokesman, the impact had crushed his legs, causing fractures as well as possible pelvic and chest injuries.
The 42-year-old was being treated on scene at 3pm, with a chopper ready to airlift him to hospital.
The spokesman said the driver of the other truck was treated for minor injuries.
The highway was closed in both directions, south of West Wyalong at 3pm.
