Riverina League president Chris Flanigan and the competition management committee looked at the likelihood of the teams involved before making a recommendation, which was supported by clubs.
Under Flanigan’s leadership, the Riverina League will approach a more flexible approach to finals venues and where possible, wait to see the teams involved before making a final call.
Narrandera Sportsground will be the home to at least four of the six Riverina League finals in 2018, and potentially five.
The preliminary final is booked in for Robertson Oval but will be moved to Narrandera Sportsground if Griffith is involved in first grade.
The qualifying final is the only other final booked in for Robertson Oval.
Flanigan said the CMC wanted to take a common sense approach to finals venues.
“A lot of the decisions will depend on who is playing in them,” Flanigan said.
“We don’t want to have Collingullie playing Mango in Griffith like we did two years ago and have no one there.”
Narrandera Sportsground will host the elimination final, first semi-final, second semi-final, as well as the grand final and potentially the preliminary final.
Robertson Oval was already booked out for the first and second semi-finals. The Wagga and District juniors grand finals and Farrer League preliminary final were already scheduled for Robertson Oval on that weekend.
Farrer League did have their second semi-final booked for Robertson Oval but have moved it to Maher Oval to allow the Riverina League qualifying final to be held there.
