Snippet Of Gold ($4.40) edged out fellow Wagga galloper Hangin’ With Willy ($5.00) to take out the Newmarket Hotel Open Handicap (1175m).
It was Snippet Of Gold’s second win this preparation for trainer Gary Colvin, while Kayla Nisbet did the steering.
Colvin is happy to see Snippet Of Gold delivering on the early promise he showed.
“He’s going well and I think he appreciates the softness of the track,” Colvin said.
“Kayla’s in form and it was a nice ride. I said to her to take him back, he likes to relax and get home.”
Wagga trainer Chris Heywood also enjoyed a win with Monsoon Charlie ($5.50), as he stormed home to claim the Commercial Club Albury Benchmark 53 Handicap (2000m).
It took Monsoon Charlie’s record to two from two over the 2000m at Albury.
It also finished Heywood equal second, with Craig Widdison, in the Southern District trainer’s premiership for season 2017-18.
