Whether it’s to support a charity or attend an event in recognition of someone from the community, residents’ generosity knows no bounds.
Drought relief appeals have swept the nation, with a widespread call to help farmers where possible.
Drought conditions have had a detrimental affects of farmers’ mental health, livestock and crops and people across the country are being asked to help in any way that they can.
But on a more local level, residents attended numerous events at the weekend to show their support for causes closer to our hearts.
Mia Stewart has captured the heart of Wagga and there are not many who haven’t heard of her plight or donated to her surgery by now.
The attendance and success of Saturday night’s midwinter ball for Mia is indicative of the generosity shown by residents at the weekend.
From fire twirling to a candy table, Mia’s mother left no stone unturned to provide residents with a quality night of entertainment.
The annual Cruise 4 Clint, in honour of Clint Rowley, was held on Sunday with proceeds going to support Wagga’s Josh ‘Chooka’ Hanlon.
Locals in the Kidney Kar Rally held a family gala day to raise money for children with kidney problems.
The Mayoress’ Variety Concert returned after a 16-year hiatus in support of the services offered by the PCYC.
The Winter Warmth Appeal was also launched to assist those in the city who need extra help during the cold months.
And this was just in one weekend.
Sure, residents love getting dressed up, live entertainment and nice food but ask most in attendance and it’s the underlying cause that brought them out on a cold winter’s day or night.
Wagga knows a worthy cause when it sees one and residents have proven time and again they will help when they can.
