Strong etched his names into the record books after winning gold at the X Games Minneapolis at the weekend.
The 26-year-old went one better than last year to win gold in the Best Trick. It is his fourth gold medal in this category and makes him the most successful X Games Best Trick rider on record.
It was his most successful X Games ever after he also claimed the silver medal in Freestyle Moto X.
“I’m stoked to not only complete my run successfully but to be able to make the podium as well,” Strong said.
Strong had never previously completed a run in the Freestyle category with all past years ending in crashes. This year’s run included two front flips and a double back flip, among other tricks.
Strong’s trademark no handed front flip was his winning move in Best Trick.
He landed the world’s first front flip at the 2011 X Games in Los Angeles and since then has been the only rider to land them until the weekend, where Rob Adelberg landed his first.
Strong added another element, by taking his hands off the bars and it was enough to land him with another gold medal.
His big weekend took his X Games medal tally to seven, making him the most successful Australian FMX rider in history.
