Marrar claimed a percentage-boosting victory against Coleambally on Saturday but coach Shane Lenon said the focus was entirely on the way they’re playing not on chasing big totals.

The 26.14 (170) to 1.4 (10) result filled both bills, with the Bombers’ fifth straight win continuing a strong last month.
“It was a big win but it’s the way we’re going about it over the past three to four weeks,” Lenon said. “They played a good brand of footy again, with that consistency that we talk about, and playing as a group. That’s the most pleasing aspect.”
Newcomers Fred Sleeth (six goals) and Curtis Allen (among their best in the midfield) both impressed in their first games.
“They both played well, they’re in pretty good nick and they fitted in to the side really well,” Lenon said.
However, Allen found himself in strife when he was reported following a contest. Any suspension could prove costly in his bid to qualify for finals.
Brad Moye (three goals) was best afield, taking out the Graeme Reid Medal in the annual ‘Reidy’s Round’ game against Coleambally, which remembers the former Bomber and raises awareness for the Good Talk charity.
It’s no accident that Moye has been in superb touch for the past three weeks, coinciding with Marrar’s improvement since their loss to North Wagga and a patchy effort against the Bushpigs.
“The last month that we’ve played well, he’s played well as well,” Lenon said.
“He’s having a good run. He kicks long, he takes the game and has got good leg speed, and his ball handling and ball use has been very good. He’s obviously got his confidence up and his body’s right. It’s good to see.”
The Blues were outclassed from start to finish conceding eight goals a quarter in the first half and five a quarter in the second. But the Bombers coach praised their attitude.
“They kept having a crack. They’re a bit undermanned and you don’t like to see any club struggling but they fronted up and kept fronting up at the contest,” Lenon said.
Tom Morton, Tom Groves and Dillan McGillivray were the pick for Coleambally, while Zach Walgers and Josh Hagar were others to produce strong games for Marrar.
