The World Champions, featuring Wagga’s Alicia Quirk and Batlow’s Sharni Williams, scored two big wins to set themselves a date with France for a place in the final on Sunday morning (Australian time).
Australia scored a 34-5 win over Papua New Guinea to start their campaign before a 34-0 win over Spain.
The French side caused a boilover to knock Canada out of the running with a 24-19 win.
The winner goes on to face the winner of the other semi-final between New Zealand and the United States for the gold medal.
The semi-final will be played at 4.42am with the final scheduled for 12.47pm.
