Scott Bernard McAlister, 33, faced Wagga District Court for sentencing on Wednesday after pleading guilty to 16 criminal offences.
Among his charges were 10 counts of possessing unauthorised firearms, three counts of supplying drugs, and two counts of receiving stolen property.
A police report tendered to the court detailed the raid of his Blowering Road property, where McAlister lived with his wife and two young children, on August 29 last year.
A search dog led police to a wooden crate in McAlister’s back shed, which he had converted into a man cave.
“When that crate was opened, police located two World War Two era bolt action centre fire rifles and ammunition in the crate,” the police report read.
“Also in the crate were war medals bearing the name ‘L Sneddon’ and a bayonet. All these items were seized by police as they are suspected to be stolen.”
As their search continued, police found a number of unauthorised firearms, ammunition, cannabis, money suspected to be the proceeds of drug dealing, and a series of animal heads.
“Also located in the man cave area were a number of sets of animal heads and horns,” the police report read.
“This included one set of samamba deer antlers, three sets of fallow deer antlers, one set of cow horns, and one mounted murray cod head, all of which were identified as having been stolen during a break and enter.”
In the crown’s case summary, the prosecution described a series of text messages found on McAlister’s phone relating to drug supply.
McAlister was sentenced to three years and three months’ jail with a non-parole period of one year and nine months for supplying drugs, which was backdated to the day of his arrest last August.
He was also given a four-year good behaviour bond for possessing unauthorised weapons and another two-year good behaviour bond for dealing with proceeds of crime.
