I have mentioned it before when it was first made available back in 2016, but in 2018 it is hard to believe what it can do. All manufacturers have upped the ante with down imaging and side imaging. We thought you can’t get much better than this.
Then manufacturers bought in CHIRP (Compressed High-intensity Radar Pulse) which sends a continuous sweep of frequencies. This gives the user a much clearer indication of around them. Now Garmin bring out the Panoptix Livescope. This incorporates all the above but makes it live: the fish are moving and it is not just a sonar image, it is an actual picture/silhouette of what is there and it is moving. The best way to see this is to Google “Garmin Panoptix Livescope” and you will be amazed at what it can do. The best part about it is, whilst it is not cheap, it is not that expensive either. I honestly don’t know what they can bring out next to go better.
