The Bulls had slumped from second to fourth on the Southern Inland ladder, but scored a 33-17 win at Exies Oval.
It was tight in the first half before the Bulls forward pack started to get on top.
The win was just what the club needed as finals approach according to former coach Tim Graham.
“It was good to get a win again,” Graham said.
“It is no excuse but we have been hit by a few injuries but got back to playing some basic footy and managed to get out on top.”
Graham thought they controlled the ball better this week and it was reflected on the scoreboard.
With their finals hopes dashed, Griffith fell to their fourth loss in five games.
They remain in sixth but failed to deliver on what shaped as a real promising season coming into the second half of the competition.
They face an even bigger test when they face Waratahs at Conolly Rugby Complex on Saturday while Tumut want to keep building their momentum when they host Wagga City on their ladies day.
“We’ve got Wagga City this weekend so hopefully we can get another solid win and build a little momentum heading into finals,” Graham said.
If results go their way Tumut can move to third and will play Leeton in the first week of the finals, however if they stumble against the winless Boiled Lollies or if Ag College down the Phantoms they will tackle Albury in the elimination final.
