The Australian Consumer Law applies to purchases regardless of whether an item is on sale or not. All products have consumer guarantees assigned by law.
The law prevents retailers from stating, “no refunds on sale items”, because if the goods are defective, you may be able to get a refund.
Products should be fit for purpose, defect free, and match an advertised description. If a product fails to meet the consumer guarantees, you are entitled to a repair, replacement or refund.
The scale of the problem will determine whether the retailer or consumer chooses the remedy.
