Suspensions and work commitments have seen Farnsworth confined to water boy duties for all bar four games this season but his latest news was even worse.
“I’d been in and out after the suspension and missed two weeks earlier but that first game back against Wagga United didn’t go so well,” Farnsworth said.
“I pretty much snapped my ankle and the season’s gone for me.”
The injury comes at a critical time for Cootamundra, who currently occupy third place on the Pascoe Cup ladder, and player availability is becoming a serious concern after in-form Striker Dylan Berkrey left mid-season for an overseas job opportunity.
“Dylan’s final game was last week against Junee and there’s a few blokes like Derek Krogh and Steve Armstrong who’ll be away with work commitments this weekend,” Farnsworth said.
“It’s a bit sad because we haven’t been able to field our best team all year and we want to see that full-strength side out on the park.”
Cootamundra are now sweating on the availability of Brenton Forsyth as the Strikers look to bolster their scoring stocks.
“Brenton was unreal before doing his hammy early in the year and he’s one of those players that just works hard,” Farnsworth said.
“He’s a fit young bloke who’s pretty quick and he wants to listen and improve his game all the time, so we’d love to have him back.”
