You see the Dragons centre only has the one game to play.
Ward has committed to both Southern Inland club Ag College and Temora and spends most weekends playing both codes
However with Aggies having the bye this weekend, he’ll be fresh to take on the two-time defending champions.
The big commitment really came by chance.
With his girlfriend playing leaguetag for Temora, he thought he’d get his foot in the door with the club by playing reserve grade.
However Temora captain-coach Sam Elwin had other plans.
Ward has played five first grade games for the club and enjoys the challenge of playing in both competitions.
“It’s not too bad, it’s just when you wake up on Monday it is a bit hard,” Ward said.
“It has been good and I love my footy so I try to get involved as much as possible at play as much of it as I can while I can.”
Ward grew up playing rugby league before linking with Ag College when he started at CSU last year and decided to play with some friends.
He’s been playing fullback for Aggies and doesn’t believe there is too much difference between the two codes.
“Since I’m a back in union I don’t really have to do the tough stuff, but in league it is a little bit more physical,” Ward said.
“There’s a few rules here and there but other than that it is still footy.”
Southcity scored a 50-10 win when to two teams met to start the season.
With the game played on a Saturday Ward missed the clash, but knows he’s in for a tough test.
“It should be good,” he said.
“I’ve watched them over the last couple of years and they have a really strong side.”
However Elwin wasn’t too disappointed in the effort last time against the Bulls, particularly in the second half.
He’s hoping for a more complete performance after letting their lead against Gundagai slip last time out.
“We shot ourselves in the foot and it has been the story of our year really,” Elwin said.
“We are getting in front but don’t have the depth of players to go on through with it.”
Mitch Bennett returns for the Bulls after missing the win over Junee.
Meanwhile Junee will be without Matt Hands once again.
Hands’ his place at five-eighth will be taken by Geoffery Bush, while Fale Malase is also out to tackle Kangaroos at Laurie Daley Oval.
It’s an important game for both team’s top four hopes.
Kangaroos welcome back Tory Barby.
