Painting accepted a two-game suspension for umpire abuse and was referred directly to the tribunal for a second report of behaving in a threatening manner.
Both incidents stemmed from last Saturday’s loss to Northern Jets at Coleambally.
But the reporting umpire decided to drop the second report on Wednesday.
After discussions with the umpire advocate, the umpire determined that Painting’s actions could not be suitably classified under the wording of law 19.2.2 (l) and as such decided to drop the charge.
Painting will miss Coleambally’s next two games against Charles Sturt University and Temora after taking the early guilty plea on the umpire abuse report.
It has been a bad week for the Blues with Todd Clark also accepting a one-game suspension for striking, while Josh Veivers took a two-game ban for umpire abuse.
