Managing agents of the Kooringal Mall and 10 other shopping centres across the state, Knight Frank, said in total there weren’t many available vacancies.
Scott Turner, Knight Frank Wagga’s sales and leasing executive, said retail is buoyant in suburban shopping centres.
“Recent expansion of existing retailers and the addition of new retailers demonstrates the strength of suburban shopping centres,” he said.
Cigarettes Tobacco Cigars will be the newest addition to the mall, as well as the city’s second Tammy’s Thai Massage taking the space of the current Kooringal Dental practice.
The owner of Tammy’s Thai Massage, Robert Baliva, said choosing the location was primarily because of an existing Thai takeaway shop in Kooringal Mall and the longer free parking offered to customers.
“There is more of a community feel in Kooringal and there were benefits of having the two shops in the same location,” he said.
Mr Baliva is hopeful the new Tammy’s Thai Massage business will open in the next two weeks.
Alex and Michelle’s Cafe and the Kooringal Dental practice will be expanding their stores to cater for their growing clientele.
According to the latest Australian Bureau of Statistics figures, it was announced yesterday the Australian retail turnover rose 0.4 per cent in April.
