Barellan coach Will Overs hopes their first win of the season – an emphatic 99-point victory against Coleambally – is a sign of better things to come.

The Two Blues, playing their first game at home since April 21, seized their chance to get off the bottom of the ladder, piling on nine goals in the first quarter, on the way to a 22.13 (145) to 7.4 (46) win.
“We wanted a good start and to show the community and the town what we’re capable of,” Overs said.
“Winning by 100 points is better than losing by 100 points. The boys are up and about and the club’s full and that’s what we want.”
Midfielder Sean Ellis and forward James McCabe led the way with four goals each while Jack Hillman, Overs and Will Prowse also shone.
Barellan had a 10-goal lead at half-time and it was out to 100 at the last break, before Coleambally limited the damage in the last.
“It was an even contribution, across the board. I just think everyone played their roles, and we met our KPIs in terms of our tackles every quarter,” Overs said.
Tom Groves, Jack Painting and Jess Spencer were Coleambally’s best while Tom Handsaker kicked two goals on a tough day out, as they dropped below Barellan on the ladder, on percentage.
But the Two Blues know the result won’t mean much if they can’t build on it.
“We’ve got to. That’s what we’re here to do,” Overs said.
“We’ve got a lot of games at home in the back half of the season, so for us to be where want to be, we need to win a few. But it won’t be easy, we’ve got Temora here next week.”
