After making a big leap this season and going through the first six rounds undefeated, Griffith proved too strong at Exies Oval on Saturday.
In the top of the table clash, Griffith claimed a a 25-12 victory.
After the first half of the season there are now teams locked on 30 points at the top of the ladder.
CSU, Griffith and Waratahs have all lost just the once so far.
There is then a 14-point gap to fourth placed Tumut.
The battle for places in the top five is also tight with Tumut (16 points) just ahead of Wagga City (12), Albury (11) and premiers Leeton (nine).
Ag College are last with just the one win to their credit and are on six points following a narrow loss in round seven.
Tumut scored a 27-20 win over Wagga City on Saturday, CSU took a 42-5 win over Albury while the Dianas brought up their second win a 20-17 victory over Aggies.
