Goal-scoring tyros Lana Duffy and Meg Reinhold shot Uranquinty to victory with strong games in the attacking third while Turvey Park’s Morgan Watts and Marnie Carrol were the beneficiaries of strong feeds from the centre court.
Uranquinty opened with a scoring frenzy, setting a buffer that ultimately held for four quarters.
Both sets of defenders worked tirelessly but Uranquinty’s Georgia Tilyard and Grace Cornell proved the better pair helping to keep Turvey’s scoreline down to secure Uranquinty’s six-goal victory.
Meanwhile, New Kids Aces reaped the rewards of a dominant first term to see off Shooting Stars in a 51-32 tussle.
New Kids came out strong in the early exchanges, leaving the very young Stars team struggling to get out of second gear.
A second quarter reshuffle saw Lucy McIntyre moved into the centre and Bridgett Dill to wing attack for Stars, which improved ball flow down the court.
However, New Kids Aces’ conversion rate remained high with Lisa Frow, Flynn Hogg and A grade debutant Katelyn Wheeler shooting accurately.
Stars had many opportunities in the third and fourth quarters to convert, but just could not match the intensity and speed of New Kids Aces.
In the final round three encounter, CSU Reddies were pushed to the post by a tireless Bushsows outfit.
The underdog Bushsows started the game competitively, making the CSU Reddies work hard to secure their 49-31 victory.
Reddies Sharlee Kerr and Rebekka Perry were tight in defence and limited Bushsows shooters Elise Dore and Sophie Kingston in the scoring circle.
Reddies trio Melanie Vidler, Rachel Kirk and Kylie Simpson worked the ball well down the court against Bushsows but Ellie Cusack, Lily McClelland and Kali Notaras fought back with quick ball movement of their own.
Hannah Williams and Bonnie Keys shot well for Reddies, helping to secure their 18 goal lead against hardworking Bushsow defenders Megan Kaye and Sarah White.
The Bushsows are still seeking their first win of the season but will find stiff opposition against Turvey Park next weekend.
CSU Reddies will hope to carry momentum into a clutch match against New Kids Aces with third spot on the ladder up for grabs, however, both games will be likely overshadowed by the top-two clash between undefeated Uranquinty and Shooting Stars.
