FREE SEMINAR ON WOMEN'S DEPRESSION: Presenter: Dr Stephanie Johnson presenting her PhD findings on rural women's depression.Everyone is welcome to attend this free public seminar to hear about the latest research on rural NSW women's depression experiences in accessing services and treatments. At Wagga Wagga Christian College on Wednesday, May 23 at 6pm to 7pm, includes supper. This is a free event for those interested in women's mental health.
MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS SUPPORT GROUP: Wagga Wagga MS Support Group is holding barbecue, cake stall and raffle on Saturday, May 26 at Bunnings Wagga. Your support to help us raise funds for Research and Support for local PwMS will be appreciated. Donations of pre-packed baked goods will be welcome. All items must have ingredients listed on label. VINNIES REFUGEE HOMEWORK PROGRAM: Vinnies is looking for more volunteers for its Refugee Homework Programs. There are have two programs: Monday Program at Turvey Park Guide Hall in Sunshine Avenue from 3.15pm to 4.45pm. This program caters to Turvey Park Primary School students. Wednesday Program at Mount Austin Primary School runs from 2.40pm to 4pm in the School Library. Both programs run for about 6 weeks in each school term. Volunteers do not need teaching experience, just a willingness to help children with their homework and improve their English and maths. Volunteers are given training and must complete a Working with Children check. Volunteers do not have to be available for a whole year, some flexibility in attendance is accommodated. BONSAI BEGINNER CLASS: Beginners class in bonsai through the Wagga Bonsai Society as part of the monthly meeting. A great way to be introduced to bonsai and its techniques. COMMUNITY VISITORS SCHEME (CVS): Do you have some spare time? We are in need of new volunteers to visit with aging residents in nursing homes and in private residential housing. Volunteers visit once a fortnight for social support and companionship. CVS service Wagga, Tumut, Junee, Cootamundra, Harden, Coolamon, The Rock, Deniliquin, Leeton and Narrandera.
