The 33-year-old will shift to lock for his 200th first grade game for Gundagai when they take on Brothers at Equex Centre on Sunday.
Pearce has come into the side to replace Brett Eccleston after he suffered a head knock in the win over Kangaroos last week.
Usually used for his impact off the bench, Pearce doesn’t expect too much will change with the different role.
“We are little bit short on troops so I’ve got a bit of a call up,” Pearce said.
“I’ve just got to try and fill the role as best I can for the boys and we will see how we go.
“My roll won’t change too much, I’ll just be playing a few more minutes.”
Pearce has been a regular fixture since joining the club in 2002 after finishing high school.
He spent a couple of seasons in Bega, but has played in seven grand finals for the club.
He’s lost six of them, plus two more in his two-year stint on the south coast, and the 2015 premiership remains the highlight.
However the chance for more grand final success is not what keeps him going.
“The 2015 grand final is definitely a highlight, but I think every game I get to play for Gundagai, for me, is a privilege,” Pearce said.
“I’m lucky enough to have played in seven first grade grand finals their and every week for me is a privilege to play for the town.”
Pearce turns 34 next week, but retirement isn’t something he’s considering just.
He hoping to have a few more seasons yet, whether it be in first grade or in the reserves.
“I’d like to play as long as I possibly can,” Pearce said.
“As long as my body holds up I’m happy to play first grade or happy to play reserve grade.
“As long as I can get up and go to work on Monday morning I will be happy.
“A lot of ex players will tell you you are a long time retired so I’d like to keep involved and keep playing for as long as I can.
Pearce believes completion will be key against Brothers.
Gundagai coach James Smart is very unsure of what team will take to the field to tackle the Brethren.
He’s missed the last two games with a hamstring complain but will play.
However he won’t know where until after training on Friday night.
Joel Field (wrist) is expected to be sidelined for the clash while there are doubts over Luke Berkrey’s fitness as well.
Smart is looking for his team to bring plenty of energy and limit their mistakes after an up and down start to the season.
