For the second week in a row, Mark Breust produced a superb game for the Kangaroos, as they romped to a 137-point win at Coleambally on Saturday.
Playing forward (two goals), back and sharing ruck duties with Mitch Haley, Breust was a standout in the 23.22 (160) to 3.5 (23) victory, as Temora brought up their first points of the season.
“He’s started the season really well,” coach Jake Wooden said. “Just his ability to go forward and kick goals. And then we moved him to the backline. And he and Mitch Haley shared the ruck all day and probably won 90 percent of the contests.
“It was a good four-quarter effort but Coly are just a really young team. They’ll take time.”
There was no shortage of positives for the Roos, with Matt Wallis (four) leading the goalkickers in his first game of the year, the returning Tim McAuley strong in the middle, and new small forward Charlie Boyton impressing with his tackling and forward line pressure.
The downside was a knee injury to Abe Wooden, with the severity still to be determined.
Coleambally led by a goal midway through the first quarter but it was all one-way traffic from shortly afterwards, as Temora found their range, despite being without ruck options Anthony Atkin and Chris Stacey, as well as Chase Grintell.
Wooden said they were a little slow to get going in the heat but worked on sticking to their structures after quarter-time, as the consistently added to their tally.
For the Blues, Brayden Scarr, Joel Crowhurst and Jess Spencer put in all day.
