Merritt is expected to miss the next couple of months after suffering three fractures in a head clash at Greenfield Park.
Brothers coach Terry Westblade said it will be a big loss heading into the clash with Junee at Equex Centre on Sunday.
“It is really sad,” Westblade said.
“He had a head clash and it got him on the side of the head. It is a big loss.”
His place on the bench has been taken by Clifford Morris after a strong performance in reserve grade.
With both teams coming off a win to start the season, Westblade is expecting a tough clash.
He’s looking to limit the influence of Junee’s fullback Daniel Foley after a strong game last week.
It will also be Diesels coach Jim Vatubuli’s first assignment against his former club.
