Police attended the Ashmont Avenue home, near the Bulolo Street intersection on Tuesday morning, where the premises and surrounds were cordoned off from the public.
Inspector Peter Hayes confirmed the matter was not looking suspicious, with a report being prepared for the coroner.
“It’s unfortunate that situations occur like this, it may have been up to over a month that he was in his own home,” he said.
“I wouldn’t like a member of my family to be found like that and I’m sure members of the community would feel the same.”
Inspector Hayes has urged the community to keep an eye on their neighbours after the sad discovery.
“Look for tell-tale signs like mail overflowing from a mailbox,” he said.
“If you haven’t sighted your neighbour just give us a call so we can go and check if they’re there.”
