Following a re-shuffle of venue ownership across the city, the Victoria Hotel had plans to turn its former nightclub into a whiskey and cocktail bar.
It comes after The Vic’s upstairs clubbing venue shifted its dance floor to Playground at Que Bar.
Following renovations, the licencee Harry Vearing said the The Loft would have a more mellow vibe, typically attracting the older crowds.
“We wanted to create a venue on the late night circuit for those that after a laid-back and relaxed atmosphere,” Mr Vearing said.
“We want to make The Vic more appealing to a more mature crowd.”
Patrons can expect a vast range of cocktails and high-end liquor, complemented by a selection of tapas and desserts.
Mr Vearing said the bespoke venue would be set in a cosy environment with live music, fresh-faced DJs and late-night waffles.
“It will be open to 3am, without being a nightclub,” he said. “We’re expecting to open late-April, early-May.”
