The Hoppers have recruited three new Tiwi Bombers players that are due to arrive in town next week in time for the start of the Riverina League season.
Cannis Tipuamantameri, Slyvanni Babui and Chris Walarpinni will join Coolamon after the success of last year’s experiment with Roy Kantilla and Jack Munkara.
The three Tiwi Island recruits are the icing on the strong recruitment campaign from the Hoppers, that has included the return of Connor Neyland and Nick Pleming, plus the arrival of Jack Baker and Max Hillier.
Coolamon president Derek Owens said the club is looking forward to the trio’s arrival.
“We’re really excited about it and the playing group is excited after the venture last year,” Owens said.
“The players enjoyed what they brought to the games last year.”
Tipuamantameri is an outside running player, Babui spent most of the last season in defence, while Walarpinni is a key position player.
Owens believes the move can benefit both parties.
“We’re building our relationship with up there,” he said.
“It really helped Jack (Munkara) develop last year, his time in the RFL, so it’s not just helping us.
“They play against stronger bodies and the coach up there says they come back better players because it’s a little bit more physical here.
“Hopefully they enjoy the process down here and can make an impact like the other boys did last year."
The three latest recruits will top the Hoppers off nicely. After sneaking into finals last year, Coolamon is one of few Riverina League clubs to have recruited strongly over the off-season.
Owens believes the Hoppers will take time.
“It will take until round six or seven for us to know who or what we are,” he said.
“It will be good to see what we look like when we get everyone on the paddock.”
Coolamon will round of their pre-season campaign with a trial game against Queanbeyan on Saturday.
They will then take on Turvey Park in the opening round of the season on Saturday week.
