The Demons won by about five goals at Crossroads Oval.
While they had a number of senior players missing, there was still plenty of positives for Collingullie-GP.
Tim Beckmans impressed in his first game for the club, while Lachie Moore and Nick Perryman hinted they are in for big seasons with strong performances.
Brad McMillan and Blake Harper also pleased the Demons’ coaching group.
Collingullie-GP captain-coach Luke Gestier was happy to get through the opening trial without any concerns.
“Everyone got through unscathed and that was probably the best part of it,” Gestier said.
“It was good to get game time into senior players at this early stage.”
Collingullie-GP will welcome back Jayden and Matt Klemke for Thursday night’s trial against Marrar, while Derek Singe will also play his first game for the Demons.
In other trial games, a young Leeton-Whitton team beat Lockhart by about six goals at Lockhart on Saturday.
An undermanned Coolamon team struggled against the might of Ovens and Murray League club North Albury at Kindra Park.
The Hoppers went down by 148 points.
Turvey Park continued their strong pre-season with a 14-point win over Temora on Friday night.
In the second game at Crossroads Oval on Saturday, a slick Canberra Demons outfit were way too good for Lavington.
