The 18-year-old was selected by the Swans with selection 28 in the AFL Rookie Draft and it has been a constant eye opener for the former Melbourne boy since.
“It’s an amazing culture, amazing place,” Amartey said of the Swans.
“It’s pretty overwhelming, I guess, getting to know that this is going to be my job.
“It’s a pretty new experience, trying to meet everyone but I’m gradually building up and getting used to it.”
Amartey has enjoyed learning more about himself through his maiden AFL pre-season.
“It’s obviously tough, it pushes you to your limits that I thought I’ve never pushed this far in my life , I’ll tell you that much, but I’m getting used to it, my body is getting used to it a bit more, which is good,” he said.
Amartey is unsure of the plans of Sydney’s coaching staff but said that he would love to get a taste of AFL football in the pre-season.
