When Cootamundra Strikers legend Mick Godbier arrived in Sydney to begin his duties as coach of the under 15 NSW Country girls, he was thrilled to see three locals girls trialling with the team below him.

Piper Scott, Frankie Scott and Anisa Rees - all of whom hail from Cootamundra or the surrounding region - were named in the 33 player under 14s squad which began trials at Valentine Sports Park this week.

“It’s really exciting, having a few familiar faces here,” Godbier said.
“It’s always good to have some local girls around.
“I haven’t been able to see a whole lot of them, but from all reports they’ve been very impressive.”
Piper has established herself as a strong and physical striker, while Anisa has been doing well at centre back.
Frankie has been plying her trade at right back and will also pull on the gloves in goal at times.
Another camp will be held later in the year, before squads are whittled down in July.
It is believed all three local girls are in with a strong chance to make the final cut.
