Police attached to Gundagai Highway Patrol detected the vehicle travelling at 115km/h along the Hume Highway at Mundarlo at 11:10pm, Friday, January 5.
Vehicles over 4.5 tonnes are restricted to 100km/h.
Police stopped the heavy vehicle and spoke with the 31-year-old Victorian man.
The man allegedly argued “the speed signs say 110km/h so I can do 110km/h”.
Police reports stated the driver further argued that all of the other heavy vehicles were travelling at at least 110km/h.
At the time the driver’s speed was detected, all other heavy vehicles in the area were travelling at their speed limit of 100km/h.
A check of the heavy vehicles registration showed that it had expired in December 2017.
The driver received infringements for the speed, driving unregistered and for work diary offences
