This annual program allows library users to return outstanding library items, have any outstanding over dues fines waived, and assist the community with a donation of food. It is also a great opportunity for people to join the library while supporting the wider community.
Community members without fines can also donate non-perishable food. In Wagga, the food will be donated to the Salvation Army for distribution to vulnerable families in the region. The post-Christmas period can be a time when many families experience financial difficulties as they struggle to cover the costs associated with the festive season and back to school expenses.
Public libraries promote equality within our communities and keep them connected through a variety of programs and services.
Whether it is fostering a love of books at Storytime, encouraging lifelong learning opportunities, reading for leisure or accessing information services, your library helps people improve their skills and life chances.
Food for Fines is another fantastic way we can support our community.
