Comedy Club founder Dane Simpson has been behind the city’s shift in attitude toward comedy and said the success stemmed from people being more aware “of what is on offer”.
“Before we started the Comedy Club, the attitude was that people didn’t necessarily want to go see big acts like Karl Barron and Akmal Saleh because they didn’t really know them on a personal level,” he said.
“People didn’t want to spend their time and money on acts they didn’t really know like that. But as we’ve had more people come to Wagga that are up and coming, people have been more inclined to go support them and I think that’s where the attitude change stemmed from.”
A five-evening stand-up comedy course – The School of Hard Knock Knocks – will run from Sunday December 3 to Thursday 7 from 6:30pm to 9:30pm at Que Bar to encourage more people to take up the art of comedy.
