THE Rural Women’s Gathering in Narrandera during last weekend was a major success with 250 enrolments throughout the weekend.
Challenges raised by modern rural women were, amongst others, internet and mobile data access and carers’ access to resources and respite. LOCAL community radio station Spirit FM 91.1 held its annual general meeting on Sunday, October 29. There was a good roll up of members to hear positive reports from executives regarding the substantial increase in memberships, the push for new sponsorships, activities of volunteers, on-air presence of presenters for the majority of prime time programs and expansion of the music library to over 78,000 music tracks.
There have also been several equipment up-grades and new equipment purchases. One of the highlights of the year was the creation of a remote studio in Geelong. We understand that this is a first for a community radio station. In addition, it is enabling our former chairman Jock Wright and his son, Tim, to continue their live weekend broadcasts.
