Demmery was taken out by another rider and run over by three bikes in a horrific start to the third and final race of the Australian Supersport 300s, a support event to the Australian MotoGP.
Demmery was airlifted immediately to Royal Alfred Hospital and was found to have fractured his pelvis and suffered a compound fracture to his tibia, fibia and femur.
The crash has left the young gun bruised and battered but remarkably he remains in good spirits and determined to get back on the bike.
“Pretty much all his right hand side from his hip down copped a bit of a battering when three bikes run over the top of you,” Brandon’s father Mick updated the Brando Racing Facebook page.
“(He’s in) pretty good spirits, been here and done that before. Been into surgery, knows what he’s got coming, already talking about getting back on a bike so hopefully everything goes smooth through surgery.”
The 20-year-old underwent surgery on Sunday night.
The accident occurred at the start of the race, where Demmery had qualified 13th in the 38-bike field.
Another rider came across and took Demmery out, hitting the retaining wall and throwing him off his bike before three bikes then came over the top of him.
