Some 22 millimetres of rain fell at Murrumbidgee Turf Club (MTC) on Thursday night, pushing the track to a rating of heavy eight on Friday morning.
By 3pm on Friday, the track had been upgraded to a soft seven and officials are confident of a further upgrade before the first race on Saturday.
“There’s a good chance of an upgrade on Saturday if the weather is favourable,” MTC chief executive Scott Sanbrook said.
MTC’s series of spring race meetings continues with a charity day, supporting Men Of League, Kurrajong Waratah and Ronald McDonald House.
The first race at Wagga gets underway at 1.56pm.
