Among the big names will be current world down the line champion Matt Schiller, world lady’s down the line champion Laura Woolley, former world champion Wendy Barton and Olympian Mitchell Iles.
Organisers expect the event to attract more than 300 competitors overall.
NSW Clay Target Association (NSWCTA) executive committee member Colin Kneebone said the competition marked an exciting time for the sport locally.
“The state carnival is always a fantastic weekend,” he said.
“It’s one of the biggest events on the national calendar with a lot of the best players around travelling here to compete.”
Kneebone said the construction of the new Australian Clay Target Association (ACTA) headquarters - which is set to double as the city’s first convention centre - would add further intrigue for visiting competitors.
“It’s only in the very early stages, but no doubt a lot of the shooters will be interested in getting an idea of the what the new national headquarters will look like,” he said.
The carnival will run from September 29 to October 2.
